Learn the basics of silver fabrication techniques in this 1-day, beginner level workshop. Skills learned include the use of an acetylene torch soldering, sawing, forging, and texturing. Students will create 4 to 6 pieces of finished silver jewelry. No experience necessary. Materials fee is $35.00.

Lost Wax Casting Continued: Mold Making

A particularly special class due to its objective being exploratory. Casting Continued: Mold Making, explores the concepts of what makes a cast-able original and turns it on its head. Seeds, plants, insects, and other sculpted forms can be burned out to create a mold for the molten pour. The duplication process is also addressed.

Teen Smith Camp

Be immersed in this traditional craft in the unique environment of a working artist’s studio. Learn from practicing studio artist, Blair Anderson a hands on approach to silversmithing techniques. Make beautiful jewelry while learning the art of silversmithing. Skills addressed include how to use a torch, soldering, sawing, drilling, hammering, and texturing as well as bezel construction for cabochon stones. Good design theory will also be touched on.

Wire Weaving Ring Workshop

Weaving wire creates a lovely metal “fabric” to incorporate into your jewelry designs. In this workshop, learn a basic wire weave and how to solder the weave to make a ring. Must have completed Beginning Silversmithing or equivalent. More info: silverworksglenechopark.com. Minimum age 13. 1 session.
