Artist Statement

Through the centuries people have found inspiration in numerous ways. Mythological gods, magical beings, nature and even food. This collection examines what we have deemed MUSE. I am motivated by a conversation that is sparked between the work and the viewer and its potential for the exchange of ideas without words. I want my pieces to have special meaning to the wearer. Combining abstract symbolism with adornment to create voice has always been at the heart of my work. I start with a theme and then I am directed by a deep feeling that there is something outside of myself that provokes a design. This is my MUSE. An unheard voice will prompt the slightest movement of a gemstone or an added technique that makes the design “land”. Different activities can bring the MUSE out of hiding. Although she has evolved through my stages of life she remains forever young. She is Impetuous, mischievous, shy, but mostly extremely generous.
